On October 26 and 27, the third workshop for the co-creation of the Galapagos Seafood System Vision was held with 32 participants from Santa Cruz, San Cristobal and Isabela islands.
After four months without being able to work in person, the first day focused on reconnecting and reuniting the group. Thus, the previously co-constructed intention was recalled, which is to work collectively with conscious listening, harmony, commitment, respect, love, diversity, courage, systemic approach and hope. The rest of the first day was spent reviewing the fifteen elements that make up the previously co-constructed draft vision, which resulted in sixteen vision statements written in a way that everyone could understand.
The second day of the workshop began with the integration of the sixteen statements under the principles of the 4 Returns:
- The return to inspiration are people with hope and life purpose.
- The return to natural capital are biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.
- The return to social capital are strengthened networks and communities.
- The return to financial capital is a strengthened local economy.
This exercise resulted in four statements grouped under each of the 4 Returns.
The second day continued with the initiation of the process of co-elaboration of the social marketing strategy for the Galapagos seafood system vision. The participants received a talk on what social marketing is, barriers were identified and how they could be eliminated to achieve the vision.
Finally, the work was consolidated with reflections from the participants group, in order to continue developing collective objectives.
