Within the framework of the CFI-CF Ecuador project, on May 13 and 14 2021, we held the first workshop to co-construct the collective intention of the actors of the Galapagos Seafood System. There was active participation from fishermen and women, merchants, farmers, scientists, government officials, NGO officials, youth groups, women's groups, nutritionists, chefs and teachers, with a total of 31 attendees.
With the assistance of the Presencing Institute team, a member of the consortium that executes the project, the actors of the system and the elements of its vision were identified together with the participants, an exercise that also achieved a greater commitment and joint responsibility within the actors of the system, which in turn guarantees an inclusive and participatory process throughout the project.
This event was held in the Pájaro Brujo reserve, in the Santa Cruz parish of Galapagos, and focused on the stages of co-initiating y co-feeling with the stakeholders; activities designed for participants to get to know each other and build trust were carried out, as well as activities to practice key skills for cooperative work. Finally, with the help of some “Theory U” tools, we worked to identify the common intention and elements of a preliminary vision for the system, both current and future.
For the participants, this exercise served so they could analyze themselves and generate new ideas that can contribute to their productive activity.
